What does the name "Charmed Geek" mean?
The name comes from the fact that I'm a very geeky gal, but I'm still quite charming. (Plus, my name has the word charm in it.) I hope to connect with other girly girls who are geeks, too. Of course, everyone is welcome to tag along though.
What makes you qualified to report cozy gaming news?
I'm not just any old person writing on the web. I have a particular set of skills.
πOne of those skills is a degree in journalism + 12 years of experience in pretty much every medium you can think of. Here's a few of my favorite articles I've written over the years for news outlets:
- Two Families, One Heart | Arkansan meets motherβs heart recipient
- Charm Chats: What can introverts do in Kansas City?
- Dr. King's Journey Through The Natural State
- World-renowned brothersβ art center opening in 18th and Vine district
- KC Pioneers set their sights on the Olympic Esports
πThe other is a lifetime of gaming. Some of my earliest memories are playing Tekken, Tomb Raider, and Batman Activity Center. (Probably shouldn't have been playing Tomb Raider at seven but I had a cool uncle.) I started my cozy gaming journey with Harvest Moon on Game Cube at my middle school best friend's house.
π I'm also a thoroughbred geek. My dad is a Lord of the Rings stan and comic book collector; Mom's into Star Trek; and my uncle was building computers my whole childhood, way before it was cool. I'm into all of the aforementioned, all things science fiction, animation/anime, pop culture, plus I'm a huge bibliophile.
Anything else you want to tell us?
Just two more things if you don't mind.
- I hope this space helps you take time to appreciate the tiny joys in life.
- I hope you are inspired to build peace and coziness into your daily life (consumerism completely optional).
