This doll dress-up game has upgraded its wardrobe to become a full-fledged fashion-focused open-world adventure.

Released on Thursday, Dec. 5 to over 30 million pre-registrants, Infinity Nikki is the latest addition to the Nikki franchise. It keeps its beloved heroines – Nikki and her talking cat Momo – at the center of the story, traveling through their cozy world known as Miraland.

On their adventure, they solve mysteries, puzzles, groom pets, discover hidden secrets like ghost trains & paper cranes, admire the views and, of course, compete in jaw-dropping fashion shows.

This is a game that was designed to match its now grown-up audience. The little girl who was finding her fashion sense in 2012 using Nikki UP2U as the backdrop, is now a full-grown woman playing cozy games and desiring a little more depth. (It's me. The little girl all-grown-up is me.)

While not a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) – meaning it's not built to play in-world online with others simultaneously – Infinity Nikki follows the mechanics of MMORPGs like Genshin Impact, and has a pull, gacha machine function where you use crystals to try your luck at getting items with varying probabilities.

It's essentially a lottery system (and how free-to-play games like this make their dolla dolla bills, y'all). You can choose to only use the in-game currencies as you earn them, or you can fork up some dough and make it rain girly outfits.

What makes this one different than all the rest? Well, firstly, there's no over-sexualization of the characters. You can tell the game was built for a woman audience first. Secondly, all your powers are linked to your outfits. You'll change outfits based on the tasks at hand and power up accordingly.
