Shortly following Nintendo's big reveal and opening of pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2, the curtain has been shut on the US.

The game system developer has decided to hold while it awaits President Trump's final sprinkle of tariffs so that it can adjust the prices accordingly, though its June 5 launch date will hold firm.

"Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions," Nintendo shared in a statement. "Nintendo will update timing at a later date. "

Currently, President Trump plans to place a 24% tariff on Japanese imports and a 46% tariff on Vietnam imports (a spot that Nintendo uses frequently for manufacturing) and the Nintendo Switch 2 is listed at $449 USD.

How much will the Nintendo Switch 2 price hike in the US due to the tariffs?

That's not something we can know for sure as we don't know exactly which parts of the game system are made in what country. But if we adjust the price at least 25%, it's clear the system will cost north of $550 USD in the US.
