Now, let's meet Paint Rekindled, Holmes' new short film in development.

Paint Rekindled follows Bea, an artist with ADD who is constantly pulled every which way by her latest hyper-fixations. After failing to find a new spark, her flame goes out. Then, while she's buried deep in the burrows of burnout, a magical flame dances before her and rekindles her inspiration (ya see what the title is doing there).

"Honestly, the character is a very major reflection of me. I also suffer from many hyper-fixations and I was also incredibly burnt out," Holmes said.

"I was even inspired for the whole dancing part by a song that I saw on TikTok [...], it's from a short film called Every Living Breathing Moment."

Holmes was moved, literally, by the song. As the orchestra crescendoed , she felt her body naturally sway to the music.

"When I listened to the song, I kept seeing a dance in my head. And I found myself, like, just kind of swinging my arms around as if I was dancing when I'd listened to it too.

So the whole concept of coming up with the idea for the short started from the dance, and I kind of just moved backwards to what led up to that point."

From there, she built her crew – including an IRL ballerina and a composer.

"I found my ballerina, her name is Jamie, another amazing black woman. She is very skilled in all things ballet and she's got really strong legs, which I love. She can hold those poses.

Throughout her choreography, [Jamie] was imagining having paint that she was in control of because the dancer [in the film] is going to be painting on the canvas and throwing paint out."

Her composer, Danaya, she found on TikTok and flew her into LA so she could work with her.

"She studied in America, but she also studied in Japan. And you can kind of see the mix of what studying in two different cultures, how that applies to her music. It sounds very unique.

Just the process of working with her was also amazing because I've worked with composers before, but she is an artiste."

So far, this passion project has been completely self-funded by Holmes, but she's currently preparing to launch a Seed&Spark campaign this July to fund the proof of concept trailer.
