Nintendo dropped an official Switch 2 sneak peek. Here's what we learned.

Early this morning, in true Beyonce fashion, Nintendo finally dropped a Nintendo Switch 2 trailer. Here's what was revealed.

When is the Nintendo Switch 2 being released?

Nintendo's teaser trailer confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in 2025, though they did not provide a specific date.

If I had to guess, I'd bet it will be right at the start of summer, near the end of May/beginning of June. Their target audience is primarily younger kids and those kids will have plenty of time to play games once summer break hits. Releasing in that time frame would give parents enough time to purchase for summer, and give their titles a nice kickoff.

Will the Nintendo Switch 2 be backwards compatible?

Yes. The console will be backwards compatible for both physical and digital games. My extensive gaming library thanks you, Nintendo.

What updates will be made to the Nintendo Switch 2 console?

Nintendo Switch 2 system updates revealed include:

A larger screen.
An additional USB port beside the headphone jack.
A kickstand extending the full length of the console, adding stability. It also has adjustable heights so you can easily view it from multiple angles.

The joy cons also got major upgrades:

They are now primarily black with muted tones of their original colors lining the inside edges. Very fashion forward of them.
You will no longer connect them to the main system by sliding them on a track and will instead be able to clack them on.
Some outlets are speculating that the joy cons may actually be used as a mouse.

While not much was revealed about the dock, we can see that the corners are no longer square and are instead rounded.
