ICYMI –  The Sims 1 and 2 re-released for PC ($19.99+) on Friday, January 31 as a part of the franchise's 25-year celebration, proving all the rumors to be true.

Simmers worldwide rejoiced as this was something the community had been begging for for years. Unfortunately, their jumps of joy soon turned into jeers of judgement upon downloading the game.

There are over 500 reviews on Steam already and a low 3-star rating.

"I was so excited to see my favorite game of all time was being re-released. Enjoyed the game for a day before the it became unplayable due to crashes about every 20 minutes or anytime I tried to save," wrote sassykassi.

"I honestly hate to give a negative review, but I can't even launch the game on my laptop," wrote Zsixare.

Reviews consistently complain of crashes. I even had one lovely Charmer message me to let me know.

Still, for others, the nostalgia made the game worth every dime.

"I was 6 years old when me and my siblings first played the original Sims way back in 2001. So much nostalgia. I spent countless hours playing this game when I was a kid. 10/10," wrote Micca.

"I have ran into 0 issues while playing the classic collection. [...] Anyone complaining about them not changing or remastering anything just don't get why The Sims 1 aesthetic was so good," wrote Chudders.

Regardless of how it was received, the long-awaited re-release of The Sims 1 and 2 definitely created the splash EA was hoping to create during its 25-year celebration as people like myself weren't even aware of the celebration until this drop.

The celebration will continue throughout the month with the official The Sims account hosting a 25-hour livestream, specialty The Sims 4 events, and a special surprise which is to be revealed.
